Lets Talk about EXPRESSED BY VINCENT

One of the most pivotal moments in my fashion journey was the first day of my tax internship during my undergraduate years at Bowie State University. I met my then boss, now turned mentor, at the client site. I donned a navy-blue blazer, a black dress shirt, a tie, grey dress pants, and black dress shoes. 

The look of disappointment and disgust on his face as he saw my outfit stepping out of the car was unforgettable hahaha. He said, “Is that a black dress shirt?” I replied yes, a bit baffled at his question. He responded, “No. No. Noooo. Come on, dawg. Come on, dawg. We do not do black dress shirts. Is this a funeral? Black dress shirts are for funerals.”

This was the first time in my life I realized there are principles for dressing (I do not call them rules because when you work with me, you will see we will break them, haha. They are more like guidelines). Depending on the setting you are entering, there is a set of dress principles you are expected to abide by. That is why people do not just walk around naked.

That experience began a journey of discovering my own personal style in my late 20s. I never wanted to be out of the know. Through this discovery process, I developed my own personal style that I have coined “Afrocentric Flexitarian,” blending my cultural heritage with modern versatility based on my life experiences.

Over the years, I have developed expertise in style, taste, and fashion knowledge that I am eager to share with individuals looking to improve their overall look. I will create unique and personalized looks for each client, tailored to their specific needs and preferences.
